Netflix Watch Now

In the last week or so, Netflix's Watch Now feature I mentioned in Podcast 5 went live. While not really "gaming news," I thought I'd expand on it a little bit. It can only be watched through Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher and you must have at least Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed.

The movies are not the newest releases, but they're not super out of date either. There are movies and TV shows available. The video controls are a little too simplistic in my opinion. There's only volume controls, play and pause. You can jump ahead and back by dragging on the progress bar, but you can't jump too far ahead because all the videos are streaming. You can also make the videos full screen.

Overall, though, I give it a thumbs up. This feature should definitely help Netflix keep the lead in the mailed movie rental business.

After playing with the feature a little more, I found one thing I don't like. Your viewing time is limited. However much you pay a month in your normal plan is how many hours you are limited to. $18/month = 18 hours. Obviously, it's still a good deal since the viewable content is added into your normal plan for free, but I'm like it to be unlimited.
