Psst! Sam Fisher is Getting Released

Hey, buddy. Word around the cell block is Sam Fisher isn't dead. He's been in the hole for a while now and rumor had been that he had gotten himself shanked. But a little birdy told me he's still alive and actually getting released from prison. He may look a little different. I hear he might have had reconstructive surgery, but everyone's pretty sure he's alive.

Splinter Cell Conviction is back on the gaming radar, despite numerous delays and rumors of cancellations. A new report from Ubisoft indicates that Splinter Cell Conviction will be released in time for Christmas 2009.

Saints Row 2 Delayed

THQ has confirmed that Saints Row 2 will be dealyed until October 14th. The original release date was August 24th.

THQ said "marketing and issues and product quality" are the reasons behind the decision.

Sounds good to me. I really enjoyed the way Saints Row took the good parts of GTA and made them better. I did have a lot of bug problems, so if they are fixing those then I'm glad it's delayed. Nothing pissed me off more than driving along and then getting stuck in a building because the Xbox didn't draw it there fast enough.

I imagine GTA IV's success is playing a small role in this as well. I hope SR2 really ups the game, like they did with their first release.

Amazon.com Says 03-10-2009 for RE5

According to Amazon.com, the release date for Resident Evil 5 will be March 10th, 2009. Not that these dates are accurate, but it's a pretty believable date for this caliber of game. Additional info may be revealed when the new trailer is released on the 31st.

Prototype Drops Multiplayer

Developers at Sierra have revealed that there will be no multiplayer gameplay in their upcoming release Prototype for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. They have scrapped plans for multiplayer so they can concentrate on the single player game.

Honestly, I think this is probably a good idea. I prefer a kickass single player game to a mediocre single and multiplayer game. Prototype looks like it could be a good game and hopefully it will bring Sierra back some of its former gaming glory. Also, this will mean that it will eliminate or reduce any delays for the game. Multiplayer is usually where you find the biggest glitches, bugs and problems in a game.

Saints Row II Dated

Since we are talking release dates, THQ announced that Saints Row II will be releasing this year on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. The sandbox game will be available on August 26th.

I was a short lived fan of the game, but with all the bugs I experienced I wasn't able to finish every mission or really enjoy the online aspect of it. Let's hope THQ QAs the hell out this sequel otherwise I'll have to save my money for the other great looking sandbox games coming out this year, like APB and Prototype.

Alan Wake Not Dated

Rumors have been going around the internet that Alan Wake has a release date. This time it is September 2008. But this is not a confirmed rumor. Rememdy still says that the game will be done "when it's done."

Alan Wake is a sandbox horror/thriller where you play a writer whose nightmare fiction starts becoming a reality. Alan Wake has been promised since the Xbox 360 was first released. Hopefully all this waiting will result in a very polished and fun game.

GTA IV Coming in April

Rockstar Propaganda has sent out emails and press releases that Grand Theft Auto IV will be released April 29th, 2008.

Kane & Lynch Release Date Changed

Release dates for games change all the time. It's part of the industry. But surprisingly, this time it's not a delay, it's a move up!

Eidos has moved the game's release up a week from November 20th to November 14th. Apparently, they think they'll fare better on the 14th instead of competing directly with the releases of Mass Effect and Rock Band.

They still have stiff competition on November 14th, though, with Assassin's Creed, Crysis, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Super Mario Galaxy(amongst others).

A move up in release is pretty surprising. I can't remember the last time I saw that. Now I need to make a tough decision. Kane & Lynch or Assassin's Creed on the 14th to suck up my time until Mass Effect on the 20th? I might actually go with Kane & Lynch(I do plan on both eventually).

Army of Two Delayed

Just the other day I was talking about how much money I was going to have to spend in November and wondering how I would find the time for all the great looking games coming out. Well, EA apparently heard my lament and decided to help out by delaying Army of Two to 2008.

Army of Two has been in development since 2005. The new release date is sometime in the 1st Quarter of 2008 so we should see the finished product by March 2008 at the latest.

This delay is being viewed as strange by many in the industry simply because the delay was announced so close to the release date. In fact, many sites and magazines already had a copy of the game to review. But the game designers say they want to "polish" the game more and make it the best it could possibly be.

While I was really looking forward to some good co-op action, I guess I can wait a little longer. And that leaves me with only four games I NEED to get in November.

In other November game news, I saw an article about how it's being hinted that Assassin's Creed will be in stores November 14th. I had already assumed that to be true since many sites have it listed as a November 13th release, but those release dates can often be off.

Edit: Mass Effect Not Delayed

8 pm - Earlier I told you about reports saying Mass Effect has been delayed until December 7, 2007. Chris Priestly, Community Coordinator, for Bioware over at Mass Effect's website has since gone on the record to say that Mass Effect is not delayed and will still launch in November. The earlier post is after the jump.

Old, inaccurate post: Luckily, this time it's not so long, but reports are surfacing that stores are e-mailing customers who preordered Mass Effect, letting them know that the game's release has been delayed until December 7, 2007.

I surfed over to xbox.com to see if they had changed the date there yet. They haven't, but they did take Mass Effect off of the Upcoming Games list again.

Wasn't Mass Effect voted best game of 2005 or 2006 or something? It feels like this game will never come out! But, with both GTA IV and Mass Effect leaving the November release pool that does free up some of my gaming dollars for that month...
