Doritos Announces the Finalists in Their Unlock Xbox Contest

Remember that contest Doritos was sponsoring where you could submit game ideas(that were "Dorito inspired")? Well, they have announced the five finalists!

Doritos Dinosaur Dash

In this game, a dinosaur is trying to eat a delivery truck full of Doritos. You can play as either the truck driver or the dinosaur.

Ultimate Dodgeball Champions

It's a dodgeball game. That's about it.

Monkeys from Mt. Dorito

Um... Monkeys fight Tiki monsters using doritos as hit points or weapons. The picture kinda looks like a small version of Pac-Man. There's some more complex rules for the game, click the link above to see them.

PB's Quest for Flavor

PB is a pill bug in search of the perfect flavor of Doritos. He searches a house for this perfect Dorito. Along the way, he eats other Doritos which give him powers to fight other bugs. The powers vary depending on the flavor of the Dorito.

Rythum Racing

Racing on a racetrack that changes with the beat and tempo of whatever music you are listening to.

Want to Be in GTA IV?

The first radio station has been announced for GTA IV: WKTT Radio, which stands for We Know The Truth. And developers are giving the fans a chance for their voices to be heard... literally.

In what can best be described as a contest, developers are letting anyone call in and voice their opinion on what "is wrong with Liberty City, America, Liberals or your health."

The number is (212)360-2368, but I suggest going to the website to get all the details. And you'll probably want to read the terms and conditions as well. I scanned through the terms and conditions quickly and mostly they state that Rockstar can do whatever they want with your voice recording and you won't be compensated.

The developers will pick their favorite calls and include them in the game. So there's your chance to be an angry caller on a GTA talk radio station. Bring out the funny, people!

Doritos Unlock Xbox Contest

I was surfing around on Xbox Live today and noticed the new ad from Doritos - Unlock Xbox. I had no idea what it was, but it peaked my interest so I went to the website. You can surf around it, but there is an Xbox 360 section which takes you to a different website.

Apparently, there is a contest coming from Doritos in which you pitch a game idea and the winning idea gets made. The pitch must be no more than 500 words long and can contain up to 3 media files(pictures, audio, video, etc) that are no more than 3 MB in size each.

Doritos isn't taking submissions until June 21st. And entries are due by July 29th.

The five finalists will work with a team of developers to make beta versions of their games which will be judged through the website and a panel of judges. The finalists will also receive "a 42-inch plasma television, a limited edition Xbox 360 Elite Console, one copy of every Xbox 360 title published by Microsoft in 2007, 2,000 MSN points, a one year subscription to Xbox live, a home entertainment system including a 5.1 Dolby surround sound system, and a pro-gaming chair".

There you go. Josh, you can dust off your old Monster Grand Theft Auto idea... Or listeners can comb through our old podcasts back when we had the "Pitch a Game" section(I think it lasted one or two podcasts).

Josh Loses Halo 3 Emblem Contest

And Noah Watkin's emblem of a pirate with crossed cutlasses wins. In my opinion, this will just fuel more of the pirate vs. ninja debate that has been so popular over the years.

I was looking at the contest rules after the winner was announced. The winner wins... nothing really. Just their emblem being used in Halo 3. Poor Noah Watkin doesn't even get a free copy of Halo 3. That seems like bullshit to me. Damn corporate greed.

Design a Halo 3 Emblem Contest

Bungie is holding an emblem contest where Bungie.net (Bnet as it's called in the streets) readers can design an emblem that will be used in the final shipping game. The guide lines include:
  1. Your emblem must consist of only two colors.
  2. Your emblem must be able be identified if the secondary portion is toggled off. See below for examples.
  3. Your emblem must look good when it’s tiny.
  4. Your emblem must be original art. Do NOT copy anything. All entries that look remotely like other logos or corporate images will be ejected. Same goes for National flags.
  5. Nothing offensive. Nothing rude, racist, -blam!- or otherwise stupid in nature.
  6. 128x128 pixels and in either gif or Jpeg format
  7. 128k file size limit
Bungies says.
"The winner will have their emblem design featured in Halo 3, and we will pick the winner based on purely aesthetic considerations. We will pick the one we deem best suited to appear in the game and if we don’t get one we like, we won’t use one."
Email your entry to 7themes@bungie.com or if you like to keep the postal service in business then send it to:
