Xbox Live Time

Okay, I'm just going to put it out there. I've looked for an answer and haven't seen one yet. Why hasn't Xbox Live changed time yet? Has nobody noticed that when the latest daylight savings change happened that Xbox Live ignored it?

Now I know the daylight savings weren't on their normal time, and this messed up a lot of things: smart clocks, VCRs, my GPS device, but you'd think that Microsoft would have noticed and fixed it. It seems like it should be a simple fix.

Alan Wake Not Dated

Rumors have been going around the internet that Alan Wake has a release date. This time it is September 2008. But this is not a confirmed rumor. Rememdy still says that the game will be done "when it's done."

Alan Wake is a sandbox horror/thriller where you play a writer whose nightmare fiction starts becoming a reality. Alan Wake has been promised since the Xbox 360 was first released. Hopefully all this waiting will result in a very polished and fun game.

Halo 3 Maps Now Free

Just in case you live under a rock(or don't get Josh's e-mails(why he doesn't post instead I'll never know), the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack is now free. You can download it off of Xbox Live.

There are three maps in the pack: Standoff, Rat's Nest and Foundry. It also includes some new items for you to play with in Forge as well. I bought them when they were 800 points($10). They're pretty fun. (And for some reason, Josh wouldn't download them even when I gave him points.)

The next Halo 3 map pack - the Legendary Map Pack - will be released April 15th for 800 points($10).

Achievement Cheaters Busted

Microsoft finally took action against serious gamerscore cheaters. Those who are found to have used gamesave tampering can face a number of penalties.

Gamesave tampering is when gamers trick their Xbox 360 into thinking they played a game and earned the achievements by using other people's save games or save games they downloaded off the internet.

Serious offenders could have their entire gamerscore reset to zero. These gamers would also never be able to re-earn any previously gained achievements(whether achieved legitimately or not). The gamers would also have their gamercards permanently marked as cheaters.

So, stick to my advice, kids. If you want an inflated illegitimate gamerscore, stick to boosting.

Bully Patch Coming Soon

With the torrent of 360 issues with Bully: Scholarship Edition, Rockstar has announced that a fix should be released within the week. The problems seem to be occuring with later models of the 360 and involve freezing, audio and achievements.

I've been playing the game a lot since its release on Tuesday, and I haven't encountered many problems. The only real problem I had was the game locked up on me the first night when I hadn't saved my game in forever. Stupid no auto-saves. And there's a little stuttering when moving fast like in races.

Gary Gygax Has Died

Gary Gygax was one of the co-creators of Dungeons and Dragons. He is often considered the "father of roleplaying games." And he died of a heart attack at home this morning at the age of 69.

While Gygax primarily dealt with pen and paper games and tabletop games, his contributions are very important to the video game industry as well. Without Gygax's many contributions to the roleplaying genre, there's no telling what kinds, if any, of "RPG" games would be available for video games today.

And it is as super easy to get all 1000 achievement points as you've seen on Youtube.

In fact, I spent so little time on the game I couldn't even tell you the plot or any buttons except B. It is ridiculous. (But I needed the points to maintain my lead in the gaming challenge.)
