Dead Rising for Wii Confirmed

MCV has confirmation that a port of Dead Rising will make its way to the Wii. No news about the game was given at E3, but Capcom of Japan has confirmed that it is true.

This is pretty cool. I loved Dead Rising and I'm kind of curious to see how it works on the Wii. Hopefully they will use all the graphics power behind the Wii to make it look and play almost as good as the 360 version.

Rumor: Dead Rising: Vegas!

More rumors have surfaced that canadian developer Blue Castle Games is in charge of the Dead Rising sequel. But even juicer is the new rumor that Dead Rising 2 will be set in Las Vegas! Slot machines, strippers and zombies! Hell yeah!

While I am extremely excited about the possibility of Vegas, I'm not as excited about Blue Castle Games. Blue Castle Games is known primarily for making The Bigs, a baseball game. I worry about a sport game developer being in charge of Dead Rising. But I'm probably being genre-ist...

Dead Rising Sued!

Richard Rubinstein, the guy who owns the rights to Dawn of the Dead(why doesn't George Romero own these rights?), is suing Capcom because he says Dead Rising is ripped off of Dawn of the Dead.

First, Dead Rising came out in 2006. Why the long wait? (I personally blame Josh. He went to a George Romero screening in the last month or two and met Romero. I bet he was all "Hey, you ever play Dead Rising?" "Dead what?")

Rubinstein and his MKR Group say in their complaint that "Both works are dark comedies... In both, the recreational activities of the zombies and absurdly grotesque 'kill scenes' provide unexpected comedic relief... Both works provided thoughtful social commentary on the 'mall culture' zeitgeist, in addition to serving up a sizable portion of sensationalistic violence."

But I don't remember the zombies in Dawn of the Dead being the result of America's love of cheap meat. In all the zombie movies/games/stories I've seen, the plotline for Dead Rising was definitely one of the most unique(while also being strangely anti-American).

I say this is a ridiculous lawsuit. Yes, you may think of Dawn of the Dead when playing Dead Rising but only because it takes place in a mall. Stop clogging up our judicial system! And more importantly, do NOT slow down production on Dead Rising 2!

Dead Rising 2 Rumor

A few whispers are hitting the nets about the sequel to a game I love: Dead Rising. Rumors say that Dead Rising 2 might make an appearance at TGS(Tokyo Game Show) which will be held September 20th-23rd. Rumors also say it may not be an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Now there's already fanboys flaming each other over the exclusive issue. Personally, I don't care about it being exclusive. I just want to play it. If Capcom makes it available to more than one console(which they've been talking about being non-exclusive in general for months), that just makes sense because they can make more money. Remember the truth: it's always about money.

For some reason, with this rumor, another one seems to follow it. That Capcom will be releasing Lost Planet on the PS3 as well. Why is this rumor so popular? It could be true, but that wouldn't change the fact that Lost Planet sucks!

Electronic Gaming Monthly Rumors

In the rumor section of Electronic Gaming Monthly, there were two interesting rumors.

The first one is that Gears of War is trying to change their achievements so they don't require "ranked" games. I don't know if this is possible, but it'd definitely help me out since I play mostly player matches.

The other one is that they want to release a version of Dead Rising that is co-op. The rumor mill also says that there would be a patch which would be downloadable to make current versions co-op as well. That would be awesome. However, I highly doubt it.
